Live and Learn

Its been three years and I still cry now and then.
Not over him,
but for the loss of what I thought I had.
For a very long time I was lost with no direction.
But now more than ever
I realize that he never really loved me
and that wasn't right for me.
I have so much love to give
and it should only be shared with someone that loves me back.


The Glycemic Index

The glycemic index consists of a scale from 1 to 100, indicating the rate at which 50 grams of carbohydrate in a particular food is absorbed into the bloodstream as blood-sugar. Glucose itself is used as the main reference point and is rated 100.

The glycemic index separates carb-containing foods into three general categories: (1) High Glycemic Index Foods (GI 70+), that cause a rapid rise in blood-glucose levels. (2) Intermediate Glycemic Index Foods (GI 55-69) causing a medium rise in blood-glucose. (3) Low Glycemic Index Foods (GI 54 or less), causing a slower rise in blood-sugar.

Lucian Freud

Artist, Lucian Freud (8 December 1922 – 20 July 2011)
Artist Lucian Freud died yesterday at the age of 88.
Many people in my social networks are talking about him
and his work...
and what his work and what his subjects
(friends and family)
had to say about him.
I cant help but wonder when I am gone,
what will those that I have painted say about me?

Cross Fit

Adam took me to the track tonight and trained me. I should have been able to go harder than what I did...but it had been so long since I did that kind of workout, or at least that's my excuse. Needless to say I almost threw up. So I drank a bunch of water and had an apple when I got home.

Alaska Men's Run 2011

The adventures of Amanda and Amanda
continue as they run for yet another good cause!
To benefit grants locally for any group
that provides moral support and information,
does research,
or any other activities related to prostate and testicular cancer!
It was a warm sunny day in Anchorage,
and a great group of people turned out to raise money and awareness!
I came in 10th in my age division
with a time of 52:30 thats running at a pace of 10:46 for five miles.
Slow Slow Slow.
But, I am posting this so I can beat my time next year!

Dating for the MTV Generation

I signed back up on a dating website today.
...now who the hell admits that??
I do, so I can tell you all about it.
After my profile being up for less than an hour,
my inbox was full.
One of the first to email was a man complementing my profile so nicely,
I had to respond because he gave me something positive to sleep on.
This is what was said:

I work 2 jobs, one of which ends around midnight, so I'm always up at this hour (subsequently, if you ever need someone to chat with this late...)...speaking of this late, YOU are up as well. :p

And gee, I wonder why it's overflowing? Intelligent,well-spoken, a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10,a body worth going to war over (Helen of Troy reference, anyone?), ambitious, driven, successful, a clear sense of humor, and if that pic of you with the 'tree balls' is any indication...an apparent flirty/playful side as well.

Now sure, MOST men aren't looking at the whole package (you can imagine what they ARE looking at, I'm sure)...and some, this late, are just so desparate that they don't care about ANY of that...you being alive and breathing is enough.

Ehem, anyway, yea...go look in a damn mirror, and you'll see why you get attention, because you're YOU.

Well, one thing I will say for you that makes you better than 95% of the women here...you're HUMBLE, which MIGHT just be the single most attractive trait of all.

I disappeared in the clouds today

1200- Salad (woke up, late night...dont ask)
1300-1400 Gym:
Hip abduction 3 sets of 10 at 95 lbs.
Hip adduction 3 sets of 10 at 65 lbs.
Leg extensions 3 sets of 10 at 80 lbs.
Seated leg curl 3 sets of 10 at 70 lbs.
Vertical Chest 3 sets of 10 at 60 lbs.
Compound Row 3 sets of 10 at 60 lbs.
Seated arm press 3 sets of 10 at 60 lbs.
then 30 min of cardio.
1430- Lean MR Shake
1630- Salad
1700-1900 Hiked to the top of flattop mountain.
1930- 6 oz. steak and a banana

Trouble Area

As you can see, my waist and area around my ribs is getting very small. And though I love the changes in my lower body as well, I cant help but notice this area that hasnt gone down. So I sent this picture to Adam to see if I could add some magical routine to my workout that would target this area.

He replied with, "Fat store, increase muscle tissue and cardio combined with clean lean foods. Same old story unfortunately. The handles can be stubborn."

Then he asked me about my diet. I told him that I have been missing some meals because I have not been logging them. With eating similar things every day, I didnt see how it was worth the time to do so...until now.

He told me, "Think 40% Carbs, 40% Protien 20% fat each meal each day at least 1200 calories total and on those big run/hike crazy wonder women days you do more carbs and or protein, we dont wanna eat that muscle you have earned."

So, with that being said, Im back to the grind of it all. Expect to see more diet and exercise blogs to come!
